Hohenschwangau Castle and Lake Alpsee

New Gothic 19th Century Style castle, summer & hunting residence of King Maximillian II of Bavaria and later his son King Ludwig II. Located in the Village of Hohenschwangau near the town of Fussen, Southwest Bavaria, Germany. The Castle was orginally built in the 12th century. In April 1929 King Maximillian II discovered the castle during a walking tour and then acquired the ruins. King Maximillian II began reconstruction of this castle from Feb 1833 until 1837 with additions to the castle up to 1855.
